The Las Vegas Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade is popular for showcasing some of the city’s top elected officials, creatively decorated floats, marching bands, drill teams, church groups, businesses, and motorcades.
The history of the MLK Day Parade begins with its founder
The Las Vegas MLK Parade was founded by Wendell P. Williams, a former school teacher, Nevada Assemblyman, and the founder of Power 88’s community radio show “Straight Talk”
The first Las Vegas MLK Day Parade was held in 1982. The first parade had 13 entries. This year, 2021 according to the parade website, about 250 entries have been submitted to the parade’s committee.
